engine trouble......

whenever my engines at an idle speed, like at a stoplight, my RPM's start going up and down from 500rpms to 2000rpms, it repeatedly does this and it stops whenever i go and accelerate, and sometimes when i brake to turn a corner, my engine just dies and i have no power steering and my brakes is hard to push, i'm worried.... i thought i needed new oil, but i got an oil change but the RPM's still go up and down....please help me

Being in need of an oil change will not make your car act as you have stated.

Have you checked your MAFS?.... make sure it's clean. The jumpy idle could be indicative of a few problems. Usually it is ignition or ECU related. This WOULD NOT mean your ECU is bad, but it sounds like it's getting a bad signal somewhere. Run a diagnostic on your ECU. The instructions are (or they were) at 240sx.org in the FAQ section.

yea, i'm having the ECU part right now. i have no 02 sensor, and i've messed around with my EGR too much, so it constantly idles at 500-600 rpms.

try this: take some carburetor cleaner, and spray it on the MAF when not running, then wait a couple minutes and start it up again. this could do it. let me know if it doesnt

yes take your air filter off and spray carb clean into the MAF while the car is ON not off while giving it some gas so it also get suckied into the throttle body and cleans it. lets use know what happens, could be more serious.
