About a week ago my car (2007 Nissan Versa 1.8L) ran low of oil. The only reason I knew that was because the car tried to overheat (no temp gauge on the dashboard to warn me,) but the motor skipped for a second. I pulled over and checked the oil, and the dipstick was LOW. Barely even read at all. So I put two quarts in it then went on my way.
However, ever since that incident my vehicle makes a loud noise when I start the ignition and pull out from a dead stop. No noises while vehicle is in motion, and it's NOT a knocking sound. It almost sounds like the motor is trying to shake or someone's exhaust is going bad, but coming from the top left part of the motor.
My "mechanic" shop, who I have heard a lot about mistrusting over the past few days, had checked my mounts on both my engine and my transmission and said they were fine. They took a stethescope to the engine and told me two seconds later it was a bearing, to put Lucas oil treatment in the oil and it would fill in the gap from where the bearing had gotten scorched.
Well, I put the Lucas in and not a single change has been made. Is it possible that there could be something else wrong? The car runs fine when it's in motion, but the motor has a bit of a shake and a noise when you turn it on initially. It hasn't backfired at all, it hasn't tried to lock or seize up ever since, and I've run the car about 80 miles after the incident occurred and there's still no knocking.
It's really not any performance issues, just noise. Loud noise. Is there any possible solutions to this?
