Being new to the Q45a I am not sure how the engine / transmission should feel / sound. Mine seems sluggish when accelerating from rest, but I think I read it starts in second gear. It certainly seems to fly when the revs get up to 3000. I am used to American engines such as the 3800cc Pontiac Bonneville which seems to be quick to start off and then runs out of breath at higher speeds.

Your 94 starts in 1st gear, unless you have a problem with the transmission (not likely). Only the 90-92 had second gear start from the factory. The car shouldn't feel exactly sluggish from 0-30 in normal driving, but some 6cyl FWD feel faster. The Q really shines between 40-100! Great for interstate on ramps :D

David - This is another sign that your fuel pump may be going. If it feels sluggish until you get to 4000rpm's, but comes alive after you get the tach moving. With a good (strong) pump and clean filter it gets fun once you get aboe 2000 :).
