Ok, to all you guys in machine shop class and who can fab stuff up:

What would it take to make a bracket to be able to use this:

on a SOHC KA24E? Im sure all it would need is a new engine mouting bracket.

Anyone.....?

pretty sure it would fit...aren't there two holes in the same spot on the ka24e? i swear there were, i'll check my motor tomorrow then again, i took off a tensioner pulley, maybe thats where those holes belong to?

Yeah, there is a mounting spot for 1 of the two bolts at where the power steering tensioner bracket bolts to the side of the engine. I'd really rather bolt it up with two bolts, tho. I was thinking an awesome place would be right between cylinders #2 and #3 on the exhaust manifold (i have aftermarket, so there is room).

FYI the reason im interested in this is, due to my larger than stock camshaft, my engine lopes like a big V8, and i would love to remove most of that engine movement.

Now, the only 2 places ive seen it for sale is Phase2motortrend, who are sold out, and PDM Racing (in Canada). Anyone know who else sells these and if they might have em in stock?

Thanks!

Make it sit right in the middle of the block, and it wouldnt interfere with anything.

Would you consider solid motor mounts instead? I think that you can get them for the price of that damper thing which seems pretty worthless to me

Well ive tried the Nismo mounts, but they make the KA sit higher and creates clearance issues with the strut brace (wont fit). In fact i never even started the car when they were installed (like 4 years ago). Cusco makes some solid ones, but i still think that, even with solid mounts, the engine will still move around. The reason im looking at this damper is it will brace it from the top and absorb some of the movement.

Besides, ive seen this damper on egay for about $75 or so. Cusco mounts are upwards of $200. Think its worth a shot?

I meant solid steel or aluminum mounts like this http://www.xcessivemotorsports...tep=4 This is only 115 for the engine and trans mount and will do far more than the damper thing you are looking at which i doubt does anything noticable. The only real downside is increased vibration in the cockpit but its not that bad still streetable in my opinion.

Also someone on these forums had taken apart one of the dampers on ebay, it uses air to dampen I think it is completely worthless

good luck to you

solid mounts are cool, for racing, but will rattle your car otherwise.

Thats what i was thinking too. Solid mounts would tansfer the vibration directly to the chassis. This damper would do just that, dampen the vibration.

Well i ordered it on Sunday off of egay, got it today (tuesday). AMAZINGLY FAST shipping!!! Esp considering monday was Columbus day.

Now comes the fun part: trying to fab up a mount to mount it to the engine. Im currently looking at making it bolt up to the top 2 bolts on the #3 & #4 tubs of the header. Originally wanted it to sit between #2 & #3, right where the spark plugs are, but theres not enough room with the wires there. I know i dont want it bolted to the valve cover, that wouldnt be strong enough. Im gonna mock it up with cardboard and take it to a friend of mine's husband who she thinks can make it for me. Hopefully i can bribe him with a bottle of Jack.
