Engine ticking? (video)

1993 240sx kade. Ok heres a video of what my engines been doing. It makes like a ticking noise. I removed the valve cover and the top guide wasnt there for the timing chain. So i figured since its a 93 it hadnt been installed by the factory or had already been removed. Im trying to rule the timing chain guide out. Everything in the engine looks good. Just alot of redish rust color substance on the cams and some other parts. (is that rust?). Ive been using 5w30 castrol syntex high mileage motor oil. I changed the oil and put in a m1 oil filter. I just seafoamed it and will change the oil in 2 days. Im not running it much while that seafoams in the engine. Im thinkin of using 20w 50 royal purple when i change it. (good idea?)....

P.S. The noise is heard most around 2500-3000rpm

bump.....

I really need some advise as soon as possible. Im leaving from Georgia and driving to Chicago in a few days. I need to know if anyone knows what that sound is. In the video you can hear the sound at about 45 seconds in and that isat about 2800 RPM. I would also like to know if its a good idea to go with the royal purple 20w 50? PLEASE HELP

20w50 in a KA? No. 10w30 or 5w30.

With all the background noise its hard to tell. It might just be the upper timing chain guide. Pop the valve cover and see if its broken.

I took the valve cover off already. There is no sign of a timing chain guide even ever being there. I made it to chicago from georgia. 16 hours str8. ZzZzZzZzZz..... Can anyone help figure out what the noise is. I will have a new video in the daylight without much background noise tomorrow....

There should be two timing chain guides in your motor; one for the upper chain and one for the lower chain. The guides are located on the driver's side of the chains. If the lower guide has disintegrated, then there's danger of the chain skipping teeth which could end up with bent valves; fix it ASAP.

Generally with timing chain problems, a rattling noise is mostly heard at idle or low RPMs. Is the noise heard when the motor is cold or when it's hot?

I took it to a mechanic and he told me its ticking lifters. He said the timing chain was fine. Thank you all for your help. To the dude that told me to go to the saturday meet im just wondering if your part of team evolution. I was told to join you all on a saturday as i was running with a honda and he told me he was a scout. Im in chicago now. I no longer will be in the GA. Its to bad cause when i was there i couldnt find anyone to help me out.
