wow, i've been searching and there are just so many things it could be.i can't hear it while driving, only outside of the car when it's idleing, definetely coming from the motor not out the exhaust or anything, from what i have read when you hear it out the exhaust it is a lifter?what is the worst possible case here?

ok after even more in depth searching, most likely it is just the timing chain?and that's okay as long as it doesn't continue to get much louder?if anyone can confirm that would be great!i guess i am just used to ohv domestics, when you hear a tick it is a lifter, so from what i hear the sound i am hearing is pretty much normal?

i'm gonna have to go out on a limb, unless you just wanna keep talking to yourself...

the KA injectors are very loud, quite loud, and they do, to some folks, sound like a bad lifter

KA's are solid and shimmed, so it is possible that maybe a shim is out of spec, but i hardly think thats true

the nasty timing chain noise you are refering too sounds like a very hollow noise. Think like someone trying to drum roll on your valve cover, because literally the timing chain hits the valve cover. If you wanna see if this is true, pull the valve cover off and you will see a very clean and scraped part where the chain is hitting

the only rebuttle i have to my own comment about it probably being the loud injectors is, unless you have your mechanical fan removed it is a bit difficult to hear the injectors.

its just so hard for people to describe sounds your car is making in terms of problems

if you're worried about timing chain check the valve cover and you'll know
