Engine temps

Would the block temp ever get to 1000F? What about valve covers, would they get to 500F? I'd like to paint both. The valve covers are already red, but I would like to clearcoat them and Dupli-Color only makes a clearcoat in 500F. I want to conceal the rusty look of the block with the same red (no clearcoat), the heads I would leave shiny aluminum.

The 6 month onslaught on questions continues...

No, but it's red now. :)

I hated the gold/silver that was on there. Red, black, and silver are the three colors I am going with.
