i finally got around to stripping my spare KA. checked some local machinists too, im dropping the block off next week, so i figued i sould make sure everything is ready to go...

the pile of parts that ive taken off the car is getting out of control. none of this stuff is ever going back on the car...

bahhhh, ac is worthless...

ive taken apart a few motors, and ive found a few tricks that might help some newbs when theyre taking off the flywheel and the head...

for the fly wheel use the clutch bolts and a small wrench--and a large bolt through one of the starter holes...

use a big pipe as a breaker bar for the head(or pretty much any tough bolt)...

all the bearing surfaces looked really clean, which was definately good news...

ahhh order at last, next week the block is getting dropped off, woooh KA-T!!!

heres a box of stuff going to get powdercoated

more coming soon...

It looks ghetto, but it works freakin FABULOUS!! i found that 3ft pipe in my shed almost three years ago, best tool ever, it takes care of anything, and fits nicely over 3/8 and 1/2 in drive sockets....ive never actually needed to buy a real "breaker bar" fiz yells at me every time he sees that bad boy come out, i like it tho

Hey, I have used a pipe as a breaker bar. Nothing wrong with that! Makes life easier. Cool idea on getting those flywheel bolts off! Lucky me I have a air compressor:) Well you are a week ahead of me. My engine is in the garage waiting for me to find 10mm bolts with 1.5 thread and 1.75 inch bolts:(. Paid 14 bucks for 4 bolts and they are a 1/4 inch to small.

I dont understand why keep a dirty pipe around when you can grab a breaker bar for $25.

HEY some of those tools look familiar!

Hahaha no way man, I LOVE the breaker pipe! I just go "ohhh noooo" every time it comes out because, truthfully, you never really know whats going to happen once that pipe comes out. Dont act like bad things havnt happend under the force of that thing... haha. I specifically remember jumping up and down on that thing while "working on your eclipse." haha

That motor is looking DAMN clean considering the hack nonsense mickey mouse garbage it was obviously put through. Feel lucky your head isnt covered in that burnt oil gold color... I am REALLY jealous-- I had a chance to get that motor from you, too! I still want it!

sometimes a braker bar doesn't cut it. I have broken so many craftsman breaker bars with pipes. I just take them back and get them replaced.

plus most breaker bars are only like 1-2 fett long...my pipe is 3+ feet of ghetto goodness. when i used it to take off the last flywheel bolt i barely had to use any force, leverage is great...
