I have tried the search feature and cannot find anything to answer my question. I have a 2001 Maxima SE automatic. It is a rust bucket but the engine still runs like a top thanks to regular oil changes. Unfortunately, the transmission has died, no reverse - limp home mode. I've found an 03 Maxima SE with a blown 3.5 for about $500. I know this is going backwards, but is it possible to swap my 3.0 in place of the 3.5???

I am sure it is possible, but why not go to a junkyard and pull a 3.5 out of almost any modern nissan car and use that? Granted, I am no expert, it may be completely plug and play. But it is just as easy to find a good vq35de that the questions I feel you should ask yourself: Why do this?
