Hi all,

My Z currently has 169(gigitty)K miles on it and I wanted to get some feed back about the engine. The engine is in good shape and I love my car BTW, but it currently isn't running well (that is in another thread). So, with that being said, I wanted to see if it would be worth getting the engine rebuilt (in hopes that the car value would appreciate over time) or just fixing the minor things and regular maintenance (timing belt, fuel filter, etc). If the total of a engine rebuilt exceeds the amount of an engine swap, should I just go that route? I would love to get a TT, but I'm not familiar with forced induction and haven't done much research about owning one nor do I plan on dumping a bunch of money in it. I'm fine with making under 300whp. I don't plan on doing anything spectacular to the car either, but I would definitely like this car to make more power and be a little more reliable.

I would definitely try to fix the small problems first. My 92 2+2 has about 175k on the engine and it runs really well, uses no oil, no smoke. I am constantly repairing small things. A engine rebuild by a competent company will really be expensive. I have often had the heretical idea that if my engine crapped out I would like to install a Ford EcoBoost 6cyl. Or a GM v6 twin turbo. A completely rebuilt and installed Zengne would come close to 10k. A JDM engine is a roll of the dice.

Ive been considering the GM 350 swap when my motor finally lets out all its magic smoke... I happen to have one sitting in my shed from an old toy I wrecked. But for now My little 1990 with 178.XXX miles on it runs just fine. No smoke, dosent use oil, no hesitation or anything.
