I have a 1990 TT with a broken engine, and a good engine sitting in my garage. Which way is easier to replace the engine, engine and trans? Or the engine alone?

It's always easier in the long run to install larger parts assembled, but would depend on your space available and how you are lifting- ceiling hoist with rolling rack is easy yes to all in one piece, floor hoist and low ceiling probably means two pieces.

when i pulled the engine alone i had major issues clearing the power steering rack coming out and going in,but i was able to remove all the lines since i deleted the rest of my power steering.

if you do engine alone your probably have to loosenor remove the rack and remove the crossmember as well
