I have a 92' D21 Kingcab with a KA24E MPI. I also have a donor engine that is a 94 240SX MPI. I want to swap the KA24E for the 240SX. What kind of problems will I come across and how difficult will they be? I can muttle through if I have a direction to go.

the only things you will need to do is stretch the oil pan to make it fit change all the pulleys to make sure they work with your belt seeing d21 ka is v and 240 is ribbed and a clutch and flywheel
cant think of anything else atm but i did the swap a while back

I was told that I might have to change the ECM and the engine harness. I figured that the one on the truck should work. My only other concern is the throttle linkage. I know the injectors are bigger on the 240SX motor< I am hoping that my ECM would be able to address the difference.

i think the 240 transmission is different length you might need a custom drive line

I plan on using my old trany since I know it will bolt up to 240SX motor. My any chance do you you the difference in HP between the two? My motor in the truck now has Pacesetter headers and 2 inch exhaust going all the way back from the collector. I have a K&N air cleaner. I run full synthetic oil tthroughout and I have 8mm ignition wires and E3 spark plugs. I was told that the motor in truck now has approx. 148 hp and the stock SX has approx. 229 hp don't know if that is true.

Before I put the SX motor in I plan on a rebuld. I am also going to port and ploish heads as well as new Colt stage 2 cam.

The car motor will make more peak HP because its power band is narrower and higher in the revs. A factory 240sx ka24de only makes about 150HP though, not anywhere near 229. Thats much closer to the SR20DET option.

So if I do all the aftermarket hopups... Cam,Headers,MSD coil, Twin electric fans,
P&P Heads, bore the block,K&N filter I should get closer to about 180 or so? I really don't want to go to extravagant, if that was the case I would have gone with 2004 Turbocharged 300Z I know that is somewhere around 340hp. Thanks for the help.

180? Maybe. Theres just not a lot you can do to get more out of these KA's short of forced induction.

Honestly, and I am usually the last to suggest this, with all the work you are planning, just turbo the stock KA24E. A mild build will get you 250 horses easy and run you about $1200 if you do your shopping.

sorry i havent posted in a while in the process of moving
the stock ka24e from a truck has around 120hp give or take some
the stock ka24e from a 240 has around 140hp give or take a bit
if you plan on doing port and polish cams headers exhaust and intake id say go for it.
things you shouldnt do if your not going to turbo it is coil packs and mess with the block doing over bore and new pistons and such. it would be a waste if you dont turbo it. after you do all the mods to a n/a ka24e after you tune it you will only be at about 180ish hp if that. these engines done make much power while n/a but boosted on the other hand is another story . i dont suggest doing a swap either cause then you will have to go through hell to find a wire harness a transmission ecu and alot of other stuff. if you want more power only thing i suggest is turbocharging it, which i can tell you its pretty fun and you will turn alot of heads lol
