nice post!Hussain wrote:people are always quick to say just trade it in. I don't agree with that. I think everything should be given a chance. to do some research and see which route is best. in this case, the 2.5s and 3.5se have a different engine, different transmission (if its CVT, theirs 2 different CVT transmissions) then the entire suspension is different, the ECU of course is going to be different. plus labor to have an EXPERIENCED shop do something like this will be crazy since almost no one is experienced in messing with CVT transmissions. plus you'll lose your warranty, you wont have some of the standard features the 3.5 has unless you have a fully equipped 2.5. when you calculate everything, it really really really is NOT worth it at all to do this. you could try a Turbo system if you have a manual. if you have a CVT, the transmission wont take the power and you'll blow your transmission (its already happen to a member with a white coupe from Florida).
so you're the mystery person everyone has been talking about! how did the conversion go? does the car drive like a normal 6 speed or is it different? how much did it cost? etc...Still-Breathin wrote:If you do though, choose to go against what they advised you and you do get a new engine, I can sell you a 3.5 CVT transmission, ECU chip and the wiring harness needed for it, at a good price. They only have 13,221 miles on it to be exact. I have this because I just did a transmission swap to 6SPD, for the turbo getting put on my car atm, btw I won't have the transmission,ECU, and wiring harness until next month (mid).
Did you consider trading your car +cash for the one they had? Could have saved all that money on labor.Still-Breathin wrote:I really can't tell you because my car won't be finished until next month and unfortunately i'm in afghan and won't be home until around Oct 1st. to drive my car. But as soon as I get home I'll keep you updated on how it drives. As far as the pricing went it cost me 3,500 and I get to keep my old components they are taking out. Also, the shop that did this for me just so happen to have a 09 coupe laying around with like 1k miles on it some guy loss to them, so the xfer is pretty easy for them, they're just moving pieces from one coupe to the other.
After they pick up my car on Sat. they'll start sending me pics of all the work they're doing and I'll keep everyone updated.
