I have been talking to my nissan buddies here at work and discussing doing an engine swap on my J30. We were thinking about going with the vg30 det from a 300z. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this being done and how dificult it might be?

first off not to be picky but the 300zx had a vg30deTT from i beleive 90-96 in america, before that it was a vg30et minus the Dual overhead cams. but not a vg30det, overseas there is a vg30det that was used in the leopard (m30) im not sure what else if any. but i beleive u would run into steering problems with the stock setup because of the right hand to left hand drive.

if ur looking for the vg30dett found in the 300zx id suggest searching for threads created by 95-j30tt he has done that swap and has good detailed writeups.

if u r looking for the single overhead single turbo then id suggest looking for info about the swap into an m30 wich may be easier to find. i am putting the dett into my m30 and using the j30 mounts and some minor modification got it to fit. this leads me to beleive that the M30 and J30 both have very similar crossmembers.
