ok so heres the deal. i own a 2002 nissan sentra se-r spec v. recently i was driving my car in a heavy rain storm and i had installed a new fujita cold air intake and i guess water got into the engine and now i need a new one. at least thats what the dealer told me. and i was wondering if a sr20det front wheel drive from a nissan bluebird can fit into my 2002 nissan sentra se-r spec v? if anybody knows anything about that please let me know what to do about this f'ed up situation

It will fit. You'll need to use the crossmember, mounts, and transmission from an 00-01 SE. It'll be an electrical nightmare too since the B15 SR ECU hasn't been cracked and, therefore, would be as useless as your QR ECU at managing a BB engine.

Unless you sunk the entire filter in a puddle, that wasn't the demise of your engine. What happened?

Damn, we had the same thing happen to an '05 Altima with a QR in it. The car was in an accident and the car had a slight miss, but not enough to throw the CEL on. Well, one of the Master techs I work with, Max, is a genius with numbers. He found a way to use an old dip stick, find out the exact distance in the cylinder that the #1 cylinder was hydro-locking, and used it to get a new engine for the car. The compression on the cylinder was around 75 or so, and the rest of them were between 115 and 125.

Well, yeah actually I do. If you call our parts manager, Matt, at 847-695-6700 and tell him Joe referred you, he'll be able to help you out.

why do you need a new engine? Did it just get water in there? Or did it hydro lock?

My friends hydro lock'd his motor and we just removed all the plugs and sparks and just cranked it until all the water pumped out. Then install the plugs and sparks for another 100 or so cranks then it restarts again

If you hydrolock it bad enough you run the risk of bending a crankrod and having a loud rod knock down the road. We had a guy use his insurance company to pay for a new engine in his 2.5L Altima.
