Just wondering, can I swap out the vq30de in my 96 maxima for a vq30det? If not, what is the best turbo engine swap for it?

You'd probably be better off building a custom turbo setup for your stock VQ30 and building/tuning it than swapping in a whole VQ30DET. The DET wasn't designed for tranverse setups, so I doubt that the stock exhaust and turbo plumbing would work in the Maxima anyway.

You could also consider swapping in a 3.5, but it isn't a turbo motor.

i'd like to get a VQ30DET as well, if they made it. the VG30DET, however, was setup as RWD not FWD. you'd have to do a RWD conversion along with the swap. too much trouble. like the minister said, do a custom turbo setup or swap the 3.5.
