i want to put a rb25det in my 90 240sx and my friend told me they arent as customizable as a sr20det is that true? also wuts the difference between the rb20 and the sr20

Most people here are going to direct you to the Engine Forums.

But I guess it would be this:

SR20, cheaper, more parts (high demand = more cash), a bit easier to deal with, little bit slower than the RBxx.

RBxx, more money, harder to find parts (low demand = less cash), a bit harder to deal with, but comes faster stock.

Some basic stuff I suppose.
