I purchased a 1991 240sx shell and installed a 1995 ka24de engine, transmission, upper wiring harness, and ecu. After trying for a month, I cannot get the car to start. When I turn the ignition on the starter works but the fuel pump and spark plugs do not. Other electronics work (headlights, interior lights etc.) A FEW OF THE MOLEX PLUGS ON THE 1991 LOWER WIRING HARNESS DO NOT PLUG INTO THE 1995 transmission…IF ANYONE HAS ANY ADVICE PLEASE HELP I AM DESPERATE!!

the wiring between the two is a little funky and different. if you have any questions as to weather you got all wires to their respective ecu pinouts you can go on carfiche.com and download both service manuals and compair schematics. sites free but if you see tna insted of download next to the manual you want youll have to check back later as they only make somany available at one time( still havent figured out why) if ya still cant figure it out hit me up at [email protected] and ill help ya through it. am a ten year master tech who specializes in electrical so this is kinna my thing good luck

oh ya one other thing pay special attention to the cam and crank sensors as they will cause a no fuel/ spark condition

Have the same problem with my kouki. And my problem is the dash harness. Your best bet is to use the s13 ecu and harness. The s14 is either obd1/2 or obd2, either or, it doesnt work with the obd1 sensors in the 13. And auto harness's are diff from the manual....Good luck. Also the C.A.S. is on the motor on the 13's and on the trans on the 14's, if this isnt connected, you have no pulse signal for your plugs. Check that.Btw, I am doing the same swap tommorrow...Does everything else work out, like the heater core hoses?

Thanks to everyone for the help but I have done a little research and decided to just buy a s13 ecu, upperwiring harness and distributor, and hopefully my car will be running soon. Does anyone know if I need anything else to make a 1995 obd1 ka work in a 1991 s13?

A modified set of heater core hoses, and I would think you would need a s14 ecu....But maybe not?

As per 97 FSM:THE CAS is used only for the onboard diagnosis of misfire.

It does not affect engine performance directly.

I'm doing this same swap this weekend (97KA24DE) into a 88 pathfinder.I am keeping my old transmission in order to keep 4x4.

Anyways hope this helps,

Chun

Im also doing a 95 Auto KA24DE to a 89 Shell Manual swap! the 89 is a KA24E (SOHC) and i just found the Heater core hoses dont fit to the 95 DOHC how can i modify them to fit or do i have to buy the 95 heater core hoses? I also swapped and replaced the 89 ECU/Harness over to the 95 ECU/Harness and i also would like to know if there is anything else i would need to swap over b4 i drop it in tomorrow morning?

You can def get universal hoses at the auto store...and cut to size.

I just did this swap on my car. What i did was use my s13 dizzy, my s13 intake mani, my s13 ecu, and my s13 full wiring harness. Also you have to use one o2 sensor on the exhaust mani that only has one wire. **make sure to use the bracket of vaccum lines from the back of the s13 motor**. Then everything worked fine. In the first run i had the dizzy 180 degrees off and the motor backfired, fixed that the engine started but didnt idle. Right now i am in the process of ripping off my intake mani and reconnecting the vaccum lines i missed. The car would not idle. It would stall unless i feathered the throttle. Have fun!!!
