i have a 2006 g35 coupe automatic with 35k miles. I bought it used and previous owner apparently never changed oil. Engine is sludged and infiniti wont cover under warranty. I found an engine from a 2007 g35 coupe for $3500 with only 8k miles but it was from a manual transmission car. will this engine fit my car and if so, will i need to modify anything? thanks

Engines should be interchangeable as far as I know

C-Kwik and a few others are definetly more capable in this dept though than I

I really do not think the two are interchangeable. The engine codes are specific, the 06MT uses the VQ35VHR and the auto does not. The difference is the variable timing control solenoids. I need to restart my computer to get good old Adobe to fire up correctly but I will check the ESM and let you know the details. Also I think am sure the ESMs are different and maybe the wiring harnesses.

Yeah I checked and the 06 auto only has variable intake timing where as the coupe from 07 has variable intake and exhaust timing.

You might be able to find a way to do this but I do not think that will be your best option.

Steve,

I don't think the 07 coupe came with the HR engine. Infiniti stuck with the DE on the coupe until the G37. Only the 07/08 G35 Sedans saw an HR engine.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Is your engine completely dead or does it still run? Maybe it can be cleaned?

It may be able to be cleaned but if they are not maintained correctly and severely neglected it causes internal temps to rise accelerate wear on internal components. I have seen engines completely seize from a lack of oil changes, especially 3.5 liters but I am sure 4 cyls are the same.
