I would like to start my new project of swaping the Automatic 95 maxima to the skyline gtr auto. I was wondering if anyone had any idea of if it could be done and what would be needed for the conversion.

A ridiculous amount of work, especially since the maxima engine is transverse since it is front wheel drive. Everything would be custom. Would you be leaving it front wheel drive or making some sort of AWD version. Just be the fact that you are asking, means that you wouldn't be able to do it yourself, and you would end up paying a shop an insane amount to do it.

To make life a little easier, use a drivetrain from 300Z or 350Z save some mod time. Good luck

Expect to have to fabricate the entire drivetrain and floorpan, pretty much.

You could just import a whole skyline and register it, it'd probably be easier. (plus getting RB parts in the states is a pain, when VQ parts are a dime a dozen..)

Wow, I'm surprized no one just went off and unloaded on the guy. Good to see calm people that don't completely flame a person.

This isn't the 240sx forum, so that is probably why

Yeah, us Maxima guys tend to be a little more calm... most of the time.

As for the question... I personally would take a VQ30 over an RB any day. Why? Well, you can easily build a VQ to make just as much power as most street RB's (VQ35 is currently powering the fastest Nissan in the world though). From there the VQ is lighter and much more compact. Turning would be better due to the lower center of gravity and weight and the engine being able to sit closer to the middle of the car (in a RWD application). So... if you're able to make the same power but out of a lighter more compact engine it should then be able to make the car faster.

This is why the JGTC R34 Skyline's equipped with the VQ30DETT were faster around the track than the RB versions.

And not to mention that parts would be 9 million times easier and cheaper to find. VQ's seem to be in every nissan made now, unless people cheap out and go with the QR

Since I have a VQ already, can I put a skyline ATESSA system in my Maxima?

Making an entire sentence into an acronym is the way of the future. So much less typing, and so much less understanding. Perfection.
