engine swap from 2001 altima?

I have a 1984 720 and a wrecked 2001 Altima 2.4. I toyed around with the idea of trying the altima engine in the truck. The idea of running the computer and that it is currently mounted transversely scares me. Is this a legitimate idea or just too difficult?

All my previous work has dealt with Chevy smallblocks which are easily switched out.

Um, might I recommend putting a small block into the 720 instead. Things to consider in RWD swaps... How they mount to the frame/engine angle, oil sump clearance, and transmission clearance and angle.

I'd part out the Altima and go and different route motor wise.

As cool as the swap might be, it would definitely not be a straight shot.

What trans would you mate to it anyway?

I was afraid that might be the case. I wanted another opinion before I started into it and found out the hard way! I had thought that I would use the transmission in the truck if there were a way to adapt it or the engine, but I guess I will just do the valve job on the truck's original engine for now, although a 283 or 327 would make that thing SCREAM! This was one of those notions that I hadn't even gotten to the exploration phase of yet. Thanks.

What ever is smaller, the bay isn't huge front to back. Yeah mating that motor to our trans would have been not worth the effort.

As long as the small block mates its driveshaft to the differential it will move. To be more involved you would have to do some math on gear ratios or just swap in a chevy rear axel too.
