This winter I will be doing a swap on my very low mile convertible - in the search for a little more power.
I am not looking to tear off tires or impress my neighbours - it just needs a bit more...
I have a donor wrecked TT but would want to update/improve everything before dropping into its new home.
However...
I'm really liking the idea of more NA power. I have done many, many show winning swaps that look completely factory and now I'm very much leaning towards the VQ37VHR w/6speed out of a newer 370. I can get one relatively cheap. The mechanics and wiring do not scare me at all.
I truly believe it would be cheaper, just as much work, more fuel efficient and of course newer/lighter/pretty cool.
A V8 was looked at (VK, VH, LS*) but too loud and obnoxious for my pretty little conv. :)
Top Priority is it has to look and function as though it was from the factory.

Has it been done? And why shouldn't I attempt it?

I don't think it has been done and the reason is probably because of the Dollar to HP ratio. Plus the VQ35DE swap is very complex in the S chassis so one can only imagine how complex the VQ37HR would be.

Plus the engine, trans, wiring harness, and ECU is only the beginning... Just change your mind and go a more conventional route hah. :bigthumb:

What kind of budget are you going to be working with?

Already did change my mind...put a deposit down on a slightly done up LS2.
Budget was around 7-10k

Yessir, I've been watching since spring. Now that they have a header and wiring, it just makes more sense to go that route.
Thanks tho :)
