So I blew my engine and I got a used japanese to replace. The new engine came out of an automatic...mine is manual. There are differences between the crank behing the flywheel. the maunal recesses to a pilot bushing. The automatic has a bushing that extends beyone the crank and it appears to have a pilot bushing behind it. I'm confused. Can anyone tell me what to do to change the automatic crank into the manual configuration? thanks!!!

You will need a flywheel instead of a driveplate. If you still have the old engine, you should have all the parts you need. You say a japanese engine? Its still a KA, right?

Yes...it's a KA. In fact I do have all (almost) the parts (flywheel) from the old engine. I had to remove the automatic transmission pilot bushing before I installed the manual transmission pilot bushing. I ended up hacksawing the bearing in six places...then with a chisel and hammer colapsed the bushing then pulled it out with a slide hammer. Took 3 hours to get it out...but I did...whoohoo.

Here is text from their eBay add:

They have all types of Japanese engines...see their eBay selection...but here's a hint, the price they ask on eBay is the price they will sell them to you if you call them, so don't pay a $ more than the eBay asking price.
