ok the situation is:i have a very strong auto 240 w/ the dohc.it has a rusted out body. (previous owner traveled on every salty road in america, i guess)i can purchase a 2nd 240 w/ a 5 speed and a blown engine for very cheap. (actually, not i can, rather, im going to)i plan on dropping the 91 engine in the 89 chassis, therefore ill have a good body AND the dohc engine.ill need to swap the ecu as well.but my question is: will i need to mess with the park/ neurtal switch after i switch ecus? or because the donor car already was a 5 speed, will that already be corrected?thanks in advance

If the motor in the 89 is blown you might seriously want to look into the condition of the transmission... The car might have been run hard and the trans is not in the best shape anymore... You might be best off getting another transmission aswell since you already are swaping engines. Just my thoughts...

The ECU doesn't control the transmission, so you won't have to mess with that. The auto transmission relies on the automatic control unit, and if you were swapping a manual transmission into an auto body, then you would have to mess with park/neutral switches. You will, however, have to mess with power steering lines. The SOHC used different lines, so you'll have to swap the lines from your DOHC to the new SOHC body. That way they'll reach the power steering pump :).

arrow: the history of the car is that it had an oil leak and the owner didnt check up on it enough. thanks for the concern though =)

tenkawa_akito: thanks for the info, thats what i thought about the ecu. but i didnt know that about the power steering lines. been thinkin about ripping the PS anyway though, as ive been looking to supercharge it >:)
