engine swap / 92 v6 D21

Howdy,
Im trying to find a compatable engine and transmission for my '92 D21 truck. Its a V6 long bed. Apparently from what i've read they only made these engines from '92 to '94.
Will these be the only engines that swap right out? Can I use a pathfinder engine? What about using a engine out of a 4x4? Am I right about the year compatability? HELP!
I have 290000 on this rig and cant really find a truck like it. Its perfect for me. I really want to save it and i'm starting to lose compression in #2 it's at 150 #'s now compared to the rest at 210.
