Just got my Nephew's car on the road and I had it transfered in my name so that I can drive it and down mine until I can get it fixed. Anyway, the problem I am having with his is when I am sitting under 2000 rpm, the car surges and bucks. Once I get above 2000rpm, the engine comes to life. The engine that is in it now came out of a '95 and the only wiring that went in with the engine is the fuel injection harness. Any body have any ideas. Thanks, Matt

Start with a careful inspection of the MAF connector.

I swapped Maf sensors between our 2 cars without a change in the pattern. It clears up just after 2 grand. What is the engine doing different above 2 grand?

I found a vacuum leak in the main PCV line coming off of the intake so, I ran another hose to join the pcv vacuum port to the pcv. It idles much better now obviously but the bucking and slight lack of power is still there until I get to 2000rpm but it doesn't show itself as soon as it did before I patched the leak.

Wouldn't hurt to look at the harness side of the MAF connector - make sure it's ok. The wires in the plug are only crimped. Sometimes they come loose.
