Does anyone know what grade & size bolts to use to mount the engine to the stand?

My short transmission bolts are too short and the long bolt is too long by about the length of the threaded part.

Use Grade 8 or higher.

Take your trans bolts and add the thickness of the stand to each one - then, go find that length (same thread pitch and diameter) at a hardware store.

I keep a spare set taped to the stand in a ziploc bag.

Its probably M12 x 1.25 or 1.5 thread pitch and at least 100mm long or longer. It's better to get longer bolts than ones that are too short, you can always get some washers/big nuts to make spacers. For instance, if you have a bolt that is too long, just add washers or nuts (can be any size) until its the length you need to make it tight.

I forget, but your local hardware store will have a thing to stick the bolt into to find which size/threading it is. Just buy some Grade 8 that are a bit longer. That's what I did. I didn't like how little bite the transmission bolts were giving me.

My short bolts were m10x1.5x60mm and th single longer bolt was m10x1.5x100mm.

Got (4) m10x1.5x80mm bolts @ grade 10.9
... now hopefully they work
