engine stalling

OK, i have seen alot of posts on here with somewhat of the same problem. If my car has run for a little bit, when i go to slow down and push in the clutch the engine stalls, it will start right back up if i start it or pop the clutch. and if it has been runnin for a while and i stop and it doesnt die, the rpms hunt from 100-1000 and it does that for bout 1min, then it dies.

If you havent already, do a full tuneup. Changing the fuel filter solved that problem on my car.

ya definitly do a tune up plugs, plug wires, distributor, rotor, fuel filter and if that doesnt work then you might want to see if it could be your tps(throttle postion sensor) that can make things wacky

i sometimes have the same problem, didnt know it was such a big thing though, well did a full tune up not to long ago cept fuel filter......time to do that, hope it helps, thanks.

guys this problem is so common it seams to be it would be related to the idle compensation valve. It is probably closing off when your in decel when it should be opened approx 60%. Without actually diagnosing one of your cars though I am not sure the exact cause of it. I unfotunitly dont get to many older 240's in my shop that have a problem like this. Most of them are do it your selfers or go to hack shops to have the work done on their cars. I am just about willing to diagnose this problem for free for someone just to help you guys out on this since this problem is brought up so many times and no definite answer is ever found. Its always speculation or confused with a similar problem but not exactly the same. Any one here with this problem south of sacramento calif???
