Engine Stalling out

I was on the freeway when the check engine light pop up and the car stalled out and started up again after the hit the gas pedal a few times. One of my friends was driving behind me and said sparks started flying out of my exhaust. This happend a few minutes ago. I'll be looking into it in the morning. Does anyone have an idea what can be going on?

Turns out it was the Distributer Cap and Rotor.
