Happy Saturday!!

I need some help. I test drove an all original 96, 5spd, NA with less than 50K on it today. While driving on the highway around 70 MPH I pressed in the clutch to downshifted to exit. At that point all the lights on the dash came on and the engine stalled. I pulled over and it restarted with no problem. I went back down the highway and it stalled again when I was getting off the exit. Everything else about the car was perfect for being 19 years old.

Has anyone had this problem before? What is it? Is it expensive to fix? Should I leave this car alone and look for another one?

Thanks for your help!

Did it stall as you released the clutch and put load back on the engine and did you rev match or did the RPM spike up? It could be a dirty air flow meter not responding quickly enough to sudden air surges resulting in stumbles strong enough to kill the engine.

It happened when I pressed the clutch in shifted to neutral. I did not rev match and didn't notice the rpm's spike.

Thanks for your help

It's so ghetto that deftly executed it comes full circle and gains epicness!
