Engine sputtering and wont rev past 2.5k

I've got a 1993 vert with a swapped motor and 5-speed transmission. It's ran fine for the first few weeks or so, but today, after filling up, it's sputtering like crazy. It is so slow in climbing rpms and wont go past 2.5k. Anyone know what to check to fix this?

sounds like either disconnected or bad MAFS, usually that'll make the ecu run in limp mode which = 2.5k rpm & sputtering.

MAF was disconnected.
