Hey everyone,

I have a 1992 240SX coupe 5spd with 133k miles on it. Tonight my buddy was driving it on the highway (I let him use the car) and he said it started making a really loud noise. He compared it to the rattling sound it had always made (timing chain guide?) except much louder.

Anyway, the noise stopped so he was like, just let me get home and we'll check it out. Then the noise comes back with the check engine light on, and a minute later the engine completely siezes up, locking the rear wheels at highway speeds. Fortunately he didn't crash it, but now it appears I have a dead KA... The engine obviously won't turn over now. He said it didn't overheat, oil and coolant levels were normal.

What the hell is this? I need to check the ECU for codes so I can find out why it threw the check engine light, but I can't get to the car tonight, I'll have to do it tomorrow night. Any suggestions for things to look for when I get there?

Sorry for the long post, but this really sucks. :(

Thanks,Mike

Damnit... I just found out that there is a pool of oil under the car and none on the dipstick. Pretty self-explanatory...

Anyone want a pretty clean red coupe body for an SR20 project? :-/

Because I was already planning on selling this car. I'm getting an MR2 turbo in 2 weeks... (and I'd rather have that than an SR20 240, for a variety of reasons...)

It might be worth it to you to swap in a junkyard KA...just for the MUCH better selling price it would bring. I dunno, just a suggestion, but that motor is fubared :(
