I drive a 2005 350z Touring edition. I got it about a month ago. It only has 70,000 miles on it. I noticed today that when i turn the key to crank the car up, it sounds like it is struggling to crank. When it does crank, the engine shudders and the rpm's idle very low. After about 5 seconds, the engine springs to life and the rpm's shoot up. If i immediatly turn it off after this and turn it back on, it does the same thing. This is the first time this has happened. What could be causing this issue?

Did you check for error codes?

Did you drive it after this happened? If you did, did it seem normal or did you have any other stalling, hesitations or rpm drops?

Check the battery terminals for corrosion and good clamps, these sometimes corrode and even crack. Check the battery and chassis grounds, the main engine ground bolts to the timing cover and to the front parts of the frame rail. also check the positive cable at the battery and at the starter. If you ake your car to any number of parts stores they can test the battery in the car to see if it's holding the needed juice.

I deove it and it drove fine afterwards. It worked fine today, no shuddering. I'll have to check the battery and have to codes run.

I agree with "evidky" because there's no adjustments at all so it's got to be a loose, or poor ground. Try (if you have a pair) of jumper wires, and just connect the "NEGITIVE" from the battery to the block. If the shutter stops I'll Guarantee a bad ground! That car has quite a few, and there's a pair connected to the "Steel Cross Brace" under dash! I mention this because your "computer is mounted to the far right under dash.

Good Luck,
HTC
