Hey Guys!

Jus wondering(as usual) I want to shampoo my engine down before I tear it apart and see what makes it tick :)

At first, I was gonna take it somwhere to get professionally down, but then I remembered my father has Heavy equipment, and along with that, an industrial sized Pressure/and steam cleaner that adds up to four chemicals in-line.

So i was wondering, if there is anyone out there who does shampooing professionally, or knows EXACTLY what they are doing, what chemicals/soaps should i use on the engine, and at what heat temperature should I have the steam cleaner set at?

Thanx alot :D

I say just spray engine degreaser over everything and steam clean it over however you like it.

I just washed my engine/engine bay yesterday afternoon. Engine started up fine like always. I usually wash my engine bay once every three-six months. Just make sure that everything is dry before turning on the engine or you will fry your electronics.

I do not like using a pressure washer with any engine. Any time you force water at that pressure its bound to go where it wasnt ment to go. I use a simple engine degreaser, let it sit for 15 minutes and wash it off with a hose. From there I use a coffee can with dishwashing detergent mixed with water. I paint the soapy solution on with a paint brush, hitting areas the degreaser failed to remove. The dishsoap works great and is not harsh on rubber hoses and seals. Once again rinse.
