The title basically explains everything, but I'll give the full story. Last week I bought my first 92' 240 and found that it had a few slight problems I knew I could fix, but I found the engine shaking to be out of my grasp. I took it to a friend who found out it was the 2nd cylinder and that it was slightly damp and the the spark plug, injector or both was not firing, didn't know which, he told me to find someone who knew more about Nissan's. I took it to another guy today and he pulled the plug out of cyl 2 and it started billowing white smoke with an oil smell and he told me it was the O-rings.

I'm sorry for rushing the question with out an introduction since this is my first post, but I'm quite frustrated and am hoping to find an answer. If I didn't clairify anything please ask more questions so we can get to the bottom of this.Thank you for reading, and hopefully helping out!

A good test to consider is disconnecting your injector and spark plug wires at number two cylinder to check if it is fuel or ignition related. next step is to do a cylinder leak down test. o-rings on the valve cover you would see oil all over the plug, and it would be blowing BLUE smoke.

i think a cylinder leakdown test would prove to be useful. air bubbles out the radiator indicate a head gasket/cracked head/block. air out the dip stick tube may be rings. this doesn't require any Nissan experience, but should be one of the first things a professional technician would be looking for.

What was the #2 plug damp with? Fuel? Oil? Coolent? Copmression test and leakdown test will go a long way to finding your problem.

This may help also:Blue Smoke=Oil BurningGray or Black Smoke= Fuel not compleatly burningWhite Smoke=Coolent Burning

I couldn't really tell you guys what it was damp with, it was just barely on the tip of the plug, possibly coolent since it was white smoke that came out?

Just wanted to thank you guys for all your help. Did the compression test and it came out at 250lbs then we tested the electrical current running from the 2nd injector, it was just a bad one. I had a hell of a time getting it out too. Thanks again!
