Well the mechanic that dropped my rebuilt ka in for me said that the reason my engine shakes is the plugs on the injectors are bad. He said if i were to wiggle them the engine smooths right out. I've tried this, and has no effect on my violent engine shake below 1k rpm. I did notice that on all 4 injectors the plugs are missing the metal snap ring that holds them on. He also told me that the reason for my bad idle was my ecu/ and my coolant temp sensor. Both have been replaced with no avail. The engine idles anywhere from 500-1200 now. Better than it was, but still not how it needs to be. I've tried adjusting the base idle, and that got me down tot he range it's at now. It even stalls from time to time. My biggest concern is the engine shake. It's definnitely violent and I can feel it while sitting in the cabin of my car. I'd like to know what may be the problem here.

it sounds like it is missing. check plugs ,cap, rotor, wires first. then take a good look at the fuel injector connectors. if you see any green crustation in the terminals. I would think your mechanic is right. you should probably either clean them up and tighten the terminals. or replace the connectors with new ones.

use a screwdriver or something small to bend in the metal contacts on the inside of the terminals.

At our dealer we have an assortment of the injector connectors with a pigtail harness attached(2 wires that you splice into your original harness) I dont know if every dealer carries these. The reason we have these pig tails is us techs requested they get them. They are not nissan parts they are from an aftermarket supply company. they retail for around 20 bucks for all 4.

thank you nistech. I cleaned them with contact cleaner and bent the inside terminals with no good results. I'll try the new plugs next. Is there anything else I should check?

you may also have a ground issue in the loom that runs along the valve cover. with the car running grasp the harness in your hand and gently push it toward the firewall, see if your choppy idle clears up when doing this. if so you need to open up the loom and find where the ground wires are all solidered together and resolider the one(s) that have seperated from the group.
