I have a 94 J30 with 230,000 miles on it. I got it last year and she was running fine but 2 days ago when I started it the engine sounded like it was misfiring. The check engine light came on also. Basically it felt like the engine was shaking hard. I was far from home so I kept driving it. After a few minutes the studering stopped and the light went out. At that point I thought it might be ok til I noticed the lights seemed dimmer than usaul. I don't know if theres a connection between the 2. She atleast got me home . Now when I start it, it does the same thing except its taking longer to adjust itself. I'm not driving it but have tried to start it in the drive way to try to figure out what might be wrong. I'm wondering if you guys think its a spark plug, computer problem or something worse. Any suggestions would be great. I miss her already

Thanks for the replies. We checked the code and it was 5 1, which is the injectors it said. We are going to test each one later. I'll keep you informed of the updates.

Time to check codes and ohm test all six fuel injectors. A failed fuel injector will cause the CEL to come ON and a slower idle will lower alternator output.

Both my failed injectors did the same thing.Missed till I got up to speed then cleared up.Be sure you don't have a cylinder filling up with fuel as well. (Leaking injector or O-Ring)That could trash the engine.

Hi yoda, Was it difficult to change your injectors? I also wanted to say that after reading some of your post I was LOL. I also tried your suggestion on how to reset the airbag light. It worked, oh wise masterful one. I'll keep you guys up to date with any fixes I have to do now. Thanks, K

I was reading on here that if you put lower octane gas in it, it got cause problems. Do you think it might be that. I put a 104 octane booster and injector cleaner in the gas, it seems to be alittle better but it still running rough. I'm also having problems finding where to check the injectors. Any advice on where to look. I can't find a maintenance manual for it either. I seen the Q instructions on here but my car is different then that picture.Anyone want this car, Its driving me nuts.... well its not driving me anywhere right now.

Lower octane gas usually doesn't have near as much "Cleaning agents" in the Fuel as Tier 1 Premium.

Is the check engine light still on ??

I only use Redline Sr1 in mine (Once a month) along with Isoheat red.

To check the injectors with an Ohm meter you simply measure resistance between the two pins of the injector. Each injector has a easy to get too connector.Unplugging the injectors one at a time with the engine running is the quick way to narrow down which injector is the culprit. It might even be a spark plug or Coilpack instead of a dead or plugged up injector.

Hi Yoda,My check engine light is on constantly now. I had to drive it to the gas station to fill it and put the octane booster in it. The light never went out like it did before. It sounds ok when running at higher speeds but when its at idol it totally bogs down and sounds like it wants to stall. I'll check the plugs and injectors tonight. I'll let you know what I find tomorrow. Thanks again O' wise one.

I'm back to finally say, I got it to work by changing 1 injector. What a pain in the butt to get the old injector out. We didn't have to dremel anything luckly it was the one in the front so it was easy to get to. Thank you for all your advice. Shes back on the road and running good. I'll keep higher octane in it from now on too. Thank you all. especially yoda.
