im looking at a 240 to buy and i went to test drive it. engine ran strong n had great power few months ago when buddies of mine test drove it. only 35k on the ka24de. is an automatic. it has sat for months and when it was started up again it lossed power greatly. neutral revs extremely slow as well as the acceleration. motor doesnt run too rough and idles fine. exhaust leak at the cat. new injectors, spark plugs and wires, fuel regulator, fuel filter, air filter, and distributor. powersteering pump is bad. thats mostly all i know.

what could make it loose so much power by just sitting there for a few months or a year?

It could be the old gasoline. Bad fuel pump maybe.

not sure about the fuel pump. i might try a fuel pressure test. but i've had bad fuel pumps and it just dont seem that would be the problem. we put new gas in it.

i had an auto that i converted to manual. When it was auto it had power and revved quickly. The 240 this thread is about does not. it kinda almost feels as if the exhaust is highly restricted, but how can an exhaust become restricted by just sitting?
