Hi all,

I'm having a problem with my 92 240sx ka24de. I've been having problems with overheating and decided to run a compression test on the cylinders. The compression test results were fine but now when i start the car. The engine races like i've slammed the gas to the floor and held it there!! Needless to say i turn the car off quickly.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this and how to fix it??

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

your throttle cable is stuck at the throttle drum or you have pulled the cable running over the valve cover

NISTECH anyway this could be a faulty TPS? maybe reading 50% or more throttle (stuck open)? or would you have to actually have the throttle plate open more for it to get enough air to race up? (dunno how much air can get pulled through the idle valve)

I know a misadjusted TPS can cause a high idle, maybe this is just an extreme case?

In any case i do agree throttle cable needs to be checked first.

if you crank the tps as far as possible you would be lucky to get the rpm above 2000. your air flow meter meter needs to see an increase to add fuel.
