I've been noticing lately that when I step on the gas and the revs go up...I let go and it usually comes back down fast...but now the revs stay up for a second when I let go of the gas then comes down

How do you know that's not it? Has this been occurring on the same tank of gas? There could be a dozen reasons why your car is doing this. Maybe the gas station got a bad batch of gas and you're running it. have you tried using a different brand and grade of gas?
