My car was burning oil and infiniti did a consumption test and found that it is burning oil. The issue is what is causing the burning of oil. They want to replace the engine but with one with 79,2000 miles on it when the car has 94,000 on it. Is there anyway I can get infiniti to put an engine with 60,000 in my car?

Question, Which engine is in your car? V6 or V8?

As far as I know most cars with the vq35de's burn oil to some extent. Did you switch to non-synthetic oil as a test?
I would much rather have my own engine rebuilt instead of inheriting someone else's problems. That way I could up the comp a touch, 5-angle valve job the heads, hone the manifolds a bit, up the cam dur just a touch and have someone shop peen and balance the crank. It wouldn't cost that much tbh if they're already in there but yeah unfortunately Nissan chooses the cheapest route.

The problem you will run into with engine replacement is finding lower mileage motors. The motor they are offering may have the lowest mileage that they can get from the supplier that they use. You could attempt to find your own engine but then you would be removed from any protection that you would have getting the engine from them. I would ask them if the engine they are offering you has any sort of guarantee or warranty on it. I would hope at least a year, as that seems to be the norm. But as msvara states, another valid option would be to just have the motor rebuilt to your own specification. This is a great way to get a brand new motor built with high quality parts. However, the costs associated with this can be large, so that is something to keep in mind. Thankfully you having the VQ significantly increases the amount of parts you can get, and decreases the overall cost in comparison with the 8 cylinder. I think either one is a very feasible option. If it was me spending my money, and cost was not an issue, I would re-build my own engine the way I would want it built. But that is just my opinion.

What are the circumstances behind this "engine failure" at only 94,000 miles? How much oil consumption are we talking about? In most modern engines the bearings and Rings are typically good far beyond that under even the worst of conditions. If it is simply valve guide seals, that's an easy fix.
