Being inspired by tangalora, I am going to attempt removing my engine out of the old Q this weekend.... FYI I plan on removing the engine and transmission together....

Im going to go get the said bolts mentioned in the thread (will find that later, unless someone konws off hand....

Basically, it looks as if i remove all the harness connectors, driveshaft, exhaust, suspension (or whats left of mine), and theres a block on the back of the transmission, and I put a jack there, and hoist the engine down with a cherry picker..... Hopefulyl it wont take me too long since a lot of its done.

I plan on posting a nice little writeup....

WES, dont know if you can get the car up high enough in your yard, but if you can just drop it out from beneath the car, Sophan pulled my spare motor like that in no time, good luck

The fenders and a hood and bumper on one of our junkers were just sold to a body shop for $1500 and they picked them up.............don't be so eager to junk the car ------ disassemble everything.

Certainly Dennis.. Main reason for junking vs fixing was the good body....

Hopefully my relatives will let me keep the car in the building over the winter.....

Unfortunately didnt get er done this weekend... Going back up, think I need to get some new tools (yipee!).....

Gonna have to bust out the impact wrench as I cant get enough leverage on some of the bolts holding on the cross member.....

I am looking foreward to having a Q that I dont have to worry about!!!

Elwesso - Was it you that was going to put a 94-96 TCU in his 90-93 and try it out for the 1st gear start? I have been off the list for a long time and cannot remember....

Funny thing, this simple statement made me feel good (and a bit more useful). You guys give me the courage to try things I've always wanted to try (e.g., brakes, fuel pump, sunvisor, oilpan, etc.) but were too scared to start (or finish). My contribution, in turn, is to try to document & photograph what I learn from you, hoping the next poor soul has an easier time of it. I'm inspired by YOU!

*sniff sniff*

Regardless of how B.A.D. my new Q is, I still miss my original 94... The ripped seats, the aweful tires, the non functioning TCS...

If I were closer, Id come and help you tackle the infamous oil pan... Certainly, if I have anything to do with it, your Q is gonna be running again and very nicely...

Evenatually, I'll take all your posts and make them into articles... A picture is worth 1000 words, so that means you should have more posts than me (or anyone for that matter )

Wes,

Is that the original Nissan battery??? It's so unusual to see a factory battery installed - even at the dealership, that I'm curious... If so a 10 year old battery that works needs to go into a battery hall of fame or something!

That WAS a factory nissan battery...... I left the lights on one night, and it completely drained it out... The car had to be jumped about every time, most times it would BARELY crank over... Replaced it with a duralast gold from autozone, last summer, which is now in the new Q......

I suppose i coulda still used it, but didnt want to have to look inot alternator replacement!
