are there safe spots where i can hoist the engine from?, the manual suggests that i buy slingers and install them, and it is not clear at all on where the slingers should go...... i've gotten a 2 ton capacity chain, and planning to rent the hoist from a local shop, but dont know how i should go about this i'm removing the engine and transmission as one, and dropping the new engine and transmission also as one

would appreciate your help....

Checking the Nissans at the junk yards should yield some lifting eyes. They're usually mounted on fasterners that go into the block: plenum bolts, manifold studs and the like. So long as the fastener is tight into the block, any of them should have enough strength to lift the entire engine, so long as it's not levered so that it'll snap. You might look into just buying a cherry picker from Harbor Freight- they're more than up to the job, and they have their 1-ton folder on sale for now for $129.

all togethr the VG30dett and transmission weigh about 800lbs so ull need tio get a good cherry picker for the job. even still defiants right about having to use a manifold bolt theres not too many places to pick these things up from. just be sure uve got the bolts tight and close to the block. around me harbor frights got hoists on sale for $100.

thank you for your replies, i will be attempting the job on friday, i got a hold of an engine hoist, but still unclear about the locations on which i should connect the hoist into, i noticed that some engines are removed by wrapping a chain around the center pipe of the exhaust manafold, but i will be removing the engine and transmission so i will need to connect the hoist to a leveler for a clean removal, the service manual suggests to use slingers, but wasnt clear on where they should go, any help is much appreciated.....
