Is there anyway I can drop the engine out the bottom of the car? I don't have an engine hoist and I don't even have a decent enough tree limb around my house either. What would I have to remove steering assembly? Or is there just no chance of it going straight down. Because if I can get it to drop through the bottom I can swap the other engine in today.

Sure is, the engine sits on the subframe. Disconnect the steering shaft, transmission mount, driveshaft, subframe, etc... and you can take the motor out the bottom. I think its way easier to just go to pepboys and fork over 200 bucks for a hoist, but more power to you for keeping it economical.

Yea, but how high does he need to jack up his car in order for it to drop.

Good luck, don't get crushed.

If it isn't a long-term job, you could look into renting an engine hoist. Call around and see if your local auto stores know where you could get one.

I assume you have a lift?

If not, I would not attempt to jack the car up on concrete blocks.

The car would have to be raised substantially for you to be abel to extract the engine.

I got a jack and 2 friends who can lift my car with ease they were able to pick it up off the ground with engine still in it so should be fine.
