Hey guys got a few questions for you guys here. I did do a quite of bit of searching here and on the net but I just wanna ask again and cross refrence what I have read.

Iam looking at rebuilding a Ka24E motor for my 89 240sx. I guy is selling it at a junkyard for 250$. I want to trickle money into it over a year or so and rebuild it from the ground up. So I need a stand and the engine to start off. Once I get it stripped down, I am looking at a couple options from what I understand and have read.

I can tank the motor and keep stock internals and just to a rebuild and try and get it back to OE, Or I can bore it out 30 over. Now if I bore it out, does anyone know if they make pistons for it, or if I am gonna have to get them made. What are the costs around if anyone has attempted this and what not. I have lots of time, not so much money (1000 in a year ) but it will be a year or so project. Does anyone know of any good kits for seals, bearings and gaskets. Any help with internals would help. And I want to keep to NA.

I have a good amount of work with cars, mostly non engine stuff cept water pumps and stuff, but nothing major. I do have a couple tech guys to help me out ( I work at a sears auto ) and 1 has rebuilt z motors.

I want to try and pull off 225ish hp, or 175 whp NA. What are your guys thoughts and what not. Is it possible to pull this with a rebuild, cams, headers, exhaust, smaller pullys, and gears. I will spend 1000 or so on the engine and after that comes the bolt ons. Please no flames, I am just looking for some help and thoughts.

I'm looking into building up my KA24DE right now. I've seen almost all companies that make pistons for my motor, replacement or forged, in standard and .020" or .5mm over. I've also seen .040" over, but not .030" over.

A full rebuild kit with cast pistons is about $600. Since you have the '89 motor you already have the higher compression of the sohc pistons. I don't see you making anywhere near 175 whp without increasing the compression and on $1000. I would suggest taking the $400 left from parts an buy a Nismo cam and put Redline oil in the transmission and differentail.

For me to get 175 whp out of my de I will need to do a .020" with sohc pistons to raise my compression from 9.5:1 to 11.1:1 along with my I/H/E combo and maybe some head work. I still might not see it then without an ecu upgrade.

i'm rebuilding a ka24e and I was told that the biggest bore size that you can go on the E is .20 over but i could be wrong. I was also told that the ka24e block out of the hardbody is better performence wise.
