Studs are not neccessary. But I do suggest new head bolts. They were about $40 for a new set from the parts store. The complete Felpro gasket kit will work perfectly to include the head gasket. If you shop around online you can find the complete gasket set (pretty much everything top to bottom) for under $100. The kit should be available with the newer Viton valve seals and rear main.As for bearings, I am a Clevite man myself, but others run ACL as well as some other brands with success. The key is to take the time and Plasti-gauge the bearing surfaces. Don't just take the machinist word for it that everything is within spec. Unless you have no space to work in, in which case, do your research on the shop.I am fortunate that the guy that does my machining is a perfectionist. He understands that I will double check everything and send parts back on a whim. It's a love/hate kind of thing.
