The engine is almost completely dissassembled now. I am having trouble with one last thing. I cant seem to get the gear that is attached to the crank (i beleive its called the crank sprocket) off. Can anyone aid me in accomplishing this.

Another question:I am planning to put forged pistons and rings in and polish (maybe reshotpeen) the stock rods and put new bearings all around in as well as all new gaskets. What other internal parts do i need? Do i need new rod bolts or can i reuse the ones i have?

Last question:What sort of stock spec piston are you 1.8 boys using? So far ive heard arais pistons for around 750 from australia and boost boy is running stock spec but not sure what kind and price on his engine that did!

any help would be greatly appreciated

The FSM says u can reuse them (even the headbolts), i would get new ones for the piece of mind.

[/quote]There was thread about this a while back, you need a pully remover tool (check auto parts store for rental) , there is a small alignment spacer and slot key needed too... i just got all this stuff for my rebuild, about $30 for all the parts needed, they are listed in the CA18 parts sticky thread at the top. Sean hooked me up :)

do a little seach i cant rememebr the name of the thread... check old posts, only about two weeks old if that,

I've heard good stuff about CP pistons too...search for the old thread about them... MovingViolation240 had some on his CA:)

Stock rods are extremely beefy, don't worry about touching them until you're making ungodly horsepower. Forged pistons and new rings are a great idea if you have the $ for them. Get a gasket kit from Nissan for a Pulsar with a CA18DE... its got all the engine gaskets you'd need to rebuild. Get all new bearings (also search for this one...someone posted a link to a good bearing company afew weeks ago)... and get new rod bolts and head bolts...they're cheap on the overall scheme of things, and its good insurance!:D

good luck and post some pics... welcome to the CA forum!

Sean
