I'm finishing up my rebuild and I think I may be missing a part. In the FSM there is a part on the front of the crank shaft that goes after the oil pump but BEFORE the sprocket gear (for the timing belt). Then there is a part that goes on before the crank pulley. I don't have the part between the oil pump and sprocket gear.

I looked on everythingnissan.com and their illustration has all those parts except the one I think I'm missing. Is this part only on some models? Do I need it?

I fired my engine up as a test and the timing belt worked its way to the back of all the gears, it was hanging off by a few millimeters. So I took it back apart and I found I did not have this part.. did I maybe put the timing belt on backwards? or I'm a missing a part.

Thoughts?

Thank you.-Ben

I have these four parts, is there one missing from this picture???

where did this part come from?

You'll be needing that rear plate! You should be able to go to any nissan dealer and order it.

Yes you do need the rear sprocket plate.

You stated at the beginning of your thread that you were missing the plate but you later stated you have it......If you have it then you will need to install it. If not, then go to the dealership and get a new one.

The belt will continue to slide off, and well....will never work without it.

Also manke sure that the slightly angled portion angles TOWARDS the oil pump. It is a little hard to notice, but if you don't put it the right way it will chew your timing belt to poo.

Hope this was a help man.

did you buy one for it? remember where you bought it from. I called everythingnissan.com and they told me to e-mail them about it. I sent a picture from the FSM and everything. I'm waiting for them to call back. I'll call them again tomorrow.

I know you only need the rear, but here's the three pieces of the sprocket + its front and rear plates, since these are all often damaged or lost.

You can order them from Nissan with these part #'s, from a KN13 88ish Pulsar w/ CA18DE or CA16DE (these parts are identical)

I got the part. Now the timing belt stays perfectly in the middle. I want to mention that the parts guy said there was like only 5 left in stock in the united states... so if you need one get it now. I bought both plates and the total was about $7.50
