89 Coupe with a KA24E in it..... stock everything minus suspension and a short ram intake.

If I rev it real quick to 3000 rpms right at 3k rpms it makes a rattle noise.

For the longest time I thought it was the heat shield on the exhaust making the noise. I finally got to taking the heat shields off and it still makes the rattle noise.

I rev it while listening in the bay and it sounds like from behind the motor/above the transmission/ near the fire wall I guess.

I have no idea what it could be.... going 60mph or so on the highway with my rpms around 3k it's constant.

Anyone ever experience this before?

I really need to just swap in DOHC or SR it but no fundage right now.

it probably is the exhaust, there's more than one heat shield on that thing and they all can make that rattle, and so can a few other things attached to it.

I'd take it to a muffler shop. I had the same problem several years ago and the shop fixed it for free in about 3 minutes with a welder.
