engine rattle...need help

I would like some ammo before going to the dealer. I have an 05 G35, 6speed, 18k miles. I hear an engine rattle sometimes. Its not that loud but it concerns me. It occurs when i have the shifter in the neutral position and the clutch disengaged. As soon as i push the clutch pedal in, the noise goes away. as soon as i let it back out, the noise returns. i can't tell if it makes the noise while in gear and driving. if i turn the engine off while the clutch is disengaged and the shifter in neutral, i can really hear the rattle as the engine dies.

what could this be? i'd like some ideas before going to the dealer. i know the dealer will bs me and say its nothing because they hate warranty work. theyll also tell me that if they tear apart my car and find nothing then i'll be responsible for paying for the labor.

it didn't used to make this noise, therefore something has changed...and for the worse. so do you know what that noise is?

Sounds like a squeaky throw out bearing to me.
